ROCKLAND — A new mural on Orient Street in Rockland was initiated by the Rock City Employee Cooperative with a request and invitation to the Arts in Action’s community mural program to create a public artwork for the exterior of Hello Hello Books and Rock City Café.

Local youth from Oceanside High School (enrolled in Arts in Action’s mural program) formed a design crew and spent the winter and spring of this year in a workshop developing collaborative concepts on the theme of “Coming Together” presented by Ryan Jackson of the Rock City Employee Cooperative.

Volunteers of all ages can join members of this design crew and mural artists in pre-registered shifts from July 26 to Aug. 21. To participate in this free program and support youth artists, contact Arts in Action Mural Director Alexis Iammarino to register or learn about available volunteer shifts.
