Two more Knox County residents were diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported July 29.

There was an uptick in cases in the past few weeks around the country, including Knox County.

No additional hospitalizations or deaths were reported for Knox County residents in the past day. Since the pandemic began, 1,191 Knox County residents were diagnosed with the virus, 36 were admitted to hospitals, and seven died.

A total of 26,401 people in Knox County have been fully vaccinated, amounting to 75% of the people eligible to receive the shots.

Statewide, an additional 120 cases of COVID-19 were reported in the past day with no additional deaths reported, keeping the number at 899. Four additional person statewide has been hospitalized in the past day, increasing that number to 2,139 since the pandemic began.

Forty-one people are in hospitals currently across the state with 16 in critical care units and nine on ventilators. This is an increase from the past few days.
