WALDOBORO — Douglas Smith of Rockland is Waldoboro Public Library’s August Artist of the Month. He has had many solo, juried and group exhibitions over the years both locally and in New England and New York. Douglas’s exhibit at the library will feature artwork done on location in Maine.

“My art is based on nature and painting from life. Whether painting a landscape or portrait, I strive to convey a sense of time, place, and quality of light. I am most concerned with the result and will use a variety of means to achieve the desired effect. The common thread throughout my art is a celebration of drawing, color and light,” Smith said.

Waldoboro Public Library is located at 958 Main St. The exhibit is available for viewing Mondays and Thursdays from noon to 7 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please call 832-4484 for more information.
