ROCKLAND — James H. Follett died July 25, 2021, at age 80, in Cooper Mills with his sister, Patricia Warren, at his side.

Born Jan. 29, 1941, in Old Town, the son of Henry and Christy Follett, he grew up in Steuben. He graduated from Sumner Memorial High School, class of 1957.

He lobster-fished until moving to the Knox County area. He was a longtime employee at Crowe Rope Co., retiring after 36 years, worked at Shaw’s, and was a caretaker for many.

James continued the family business, Follett’s Gloves, with his sister, which was started by his parents, and he continued the business until 2013, serving the coast from Freeport to Eastport.

He was predeceased by his parents and sister Judy (Whalen) Staples, and long companion Verna Ames.

He is survived by sisters Patricia Warren and Alice (Allan) Hopkins of Camden; four children Karen (Mike) Thompson, Kenneth Follett, Kathy Follett and Kelly (Donald) Dyer; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four nephews and two nieces; Aunt Gloria Moore and her family of Steuben.

Private services will be held at a later date.
