ROCKPORT — On Saturday, July 31, there will be a dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. on the Rockport Public Library steps, in front of the main doors.

This will be an opportunity for library staff, volunteers, and residents to publicly thank the community for making the idea of a library into a reality, said Keith Drago in a press release to the Camden Herald.

“It truly took all of us working together from donors and town officials to builders and fundraisers to make this happen. We hope you will join as we take a little time to reflect on this wonderful achievement for Rockport.” said Drago.

The library will celebrate its Belated Grand Opening with free hot dogs. Volunteers will grill hot dogs and veggie dogs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the lower patio. There will also be crafting activities set up for children all day in the library.

At 1 p.m. the library will have its Summer Reading capstone event Books for Bikes raffle. Children who signed up for the Summer Reading program now have a chance to win a bike. For each book entered on a summer reading log, kids get their name put in the raffle for a new bike. This program is made possible with the donation of bikes from the Rockport Masons.
