UNION — From Thursday, July 29, through Saturday, July 31, The Pour Farm presents “The Other Music Festival.” The event features performances of electro-acoustic music by local musicians from 5 to 7 p.m. each day.

“The Other Music Festival” kicks off with digital bard Erasmus More exploring a unique blending of ancient sounds and modern tools. Erasmus More, the stage persona of Joe Cough, uses live-looping, beatboxing, guitar, percussion, and voice to create original layers and textures to exhume old songs into the 21st century.

Friday, July 30, features Quantum Electronica, a duo composed of Jason Dean (vocals, drum machines, keyboard) and Michael Whitehead (bass, effects). Quantum Electronica performs original eclectic electronic music that blends dance and film music with a jazz sensibility.

The festival concludes with The Firestarters, an electronic music trio born on the internet. Kees DeGroot (guitar, effects), Jeffery Kirn (guitar, effects, theremin), and Tom Luther (keyboard, groove production) met through an online communal music program called “Disquiet Junto.” Burgeoning interest in one another’s work led to numerous chats online, and eventually the idea of a unique unprepared performance. The Firestarters perform for the very first time at the festival with an attitude of “anything goes.”

Admission is $5 per show or $10 for all three nights. The Pour Farm is located at 56 Crawfordsburn Lane. Tickets available at the brewery or online at eventbrite.com/e/the-other-music-festival-tickets-163533319561.
