CAMDEN — Megunticook Rowing is in the midst of summer programs for all ages and levels of experience.
“Rowing is the perfect way to get fit and enjoy the beauty of our waterways, while practicing social distancing,” said Meg Webb, vice-president, Megunticook Rowing.
New to rowing? The organization offers learn-to-row classes weekday mornings and weekends throughout the summer. “Come join us on the water for a four-day, learn-to-row class with our experienced, enthusiastic summer coaches,” Webb said. “No experience is needed, just a desire to have fun and a willingness to try something new.”
For experienced rowers interested in training for speed the group’s early-morning competitive rowing program is Monday through Friday. The organization also offers coached novice and intermediate rowing seven mornings and five nights a week “for those who love to row and want to increase their technical ability,” Webb said. “Summer rowing will include sculling in single boats, and rowing in group boats, depending on interest.”
Private lessons also are available. “Our experienced coaching staff includes professional coaches with extensive collegiate and club-level experience, and college rowers home for the summer, eager to teach others to row,” Webb said.
Megunticook Rowing will comply with Maine and USRowing COVID-19 guidelines to ensure a safe experience for participants, Webb said.
Megunticook Rowing is a community-based, non-profit rowing program located at Barrett’s Cove on Megunticook Lake. The group provides rowing opportunities to those of all ages and abilities, from middle schoolers to octogenarians.
