Cancer benefit to include raffle, dunk tank July 10

WALDOBORO — The second Michelle Winkley Creamer Cancer benefit will be hosted by Delano Seafood and Delano Seafood Shack Saturday, July 10, with a rain date of Saturday, July 17.

Events include a dunk tank where the public can dunk Waldoboro officials or celebrities, a 50/50 raffle, numerous silent auction items as well as Delano Seafood and Seafood shack owner Kendall Delano will donate $5.00 to the Maine Cancer Foundation from every sale at the store or shack.

To donate a raffle item or to the Maine Cancer Foundation, make checks payable to Delano Seafood with Maine Cancer Foundation in the memo line, or make the check out directly to the Maine Cancer Foundation and leave the check or raffle item at the store or shack, located at 2090 Atlantic Highway, Route 1.

Washington Lady’s Guild strawberry festival to be July 10

WASHINGTON — The Washington Lady’s Guild will hold their 73rd annual strawberry festival Saturday, July 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Washington Fire Station.

The public can enjoy lunch, shortcake and music performed by The Route 17 Ramblers. There will be free activities for kids.

All proceeds will go to the Washington Ladies Guild to support local community organizations.

Village Library hosts Nesser’s treasure tale July 15.

OWLS HEAD — Next Thursday, July 15, Aladar Nesser will relate his tale of “The Black Swan: The greatest underwater treasure found, then lost – a story of science, high adventure, discovery and international intrigue.”

This Garden Gathering will be held at 4 p.m. in the garden of Dona Mollo, 457 Ash Pt. Drive in Owls Head. Rain date is July 22.

Nesser worked with Odyssey Marine Exploration from 2007 to 2015, leading the effort to relocate the Black Swan treasure to the U.S. Nesser also served 28 years in the Navy as Naval Flight Officer, retiring as a Commander.
