The Midcoast Babe Ruth League’s regular baseball season has drawn to a close, with the playoffs on-deck.

On Tuesday, July 6, in final regular-season games, Rockland Ford swung to an 8-5 win over the Damariscotta Lions, while Waldoboro bested P.G. Willey 12-1.

The league’s final regular-season standings show: Waldoboro 9-1, Rockland Ford 8-2, Damariscotta Lions 5-5, Granite Coast Orthodontics 2-8 and P.G. Willey 1-9.

Playoff games in the league for playes ages 13-15, scheduled for Saturday, July 10 at Morrill Field on Thomaston Street in Rockland, will see No. 4 Granite Coast Orthodontics host No. 5 P.G. Willey at 9 a.m., as the winner plays top-seeded Waldoboro at noon. No. 2 Rockland Ford will host No. 3 Damariscotta Lions at 3 p.m. Saturday’s survivors will meet the next day.

The best-of-three championship series, at the same venue, will be on Sunday, July 11 at 11 a.m., with the second game to begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first.

A potential winner-take-all final, if necessary, will be on Monday, July 12 at 5 p.m. at Morrill Field.

In play on Thursday, July 1, Waldoboro posted a 10-4 victory over Rockland Ford, which earned it the top spot for the postseason, while the Damariscotta Lions bested Granite Coast Orthodontics 11-3.

On Tuesday, June 29, P.G. Willey got its first win of the season, as it split a doubleheader with Granite Coast Orthodontics.

P.G. Willey posted an 11-10 win in the second game and Granite Coast Orthodontics a 3-0 decision in game one, while Waldoboro bested the Damariscotta Lions 6-2.

The league also will field an all-star team for the 15-year-old state tournament on Saturday and Sunday, July 17-18 at the Morton Field Complex in Augusta. That local group will be announced at a later date.

Rockland Ford 8, Damariscotta Lions 5

At Rockland July 6, Rockland piled on the runs in the late innings and swung past the Lions. Rockland Ford scored two in the fourth, four in the fifth and two in the sixth, while the Lions plated two in the sixth and three in the seventh.

Gavin Ripley, Gilbert Stewart, Bryson Mattox, Jacob Watkinson and Dylan Winslow toed the rubber for Rockland Ford and allowed four hits, while Micah Tomasello, A.J. Giberson and Roan Donaghy allowed eight hits on the bump for the Lions.

Rockland Ford was led at the plate by Taygan McAllister (single, triple, 2 runs, RBI), Blade Brann (double, run, 2 RBIs), Gilbert Stewart (single, run, RBI), Dominic Frisone (single, RBI), Dylan Winslow (run), Brady Proctor (single, RBI), Joey Brown (single, run), Levi Philbrook (single, run) and Parker Darge (run).

Kaden Bartrug (single, run, RBI), Giberson (single, 2 runs), Tomasello (single, run, RBI), Blake Grady (single, RBI) and Spencer McDaniel (run) led the Lions.

Waldoboro 12, P.G. Willey 1

At Rockport July 6, Waldoboro swung to its ninth win in 10 tries, this time over P.G. Willey. Waldoboro scored one run in the second, seven in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh, while P.G. Willey scored in the first.

Waldoboro was led at the dish by Jaiden Starr (single, run), Aaron Reed (2 singles, run, stolen base), Walker Simmons (2 singles, run), Isaac Simmons (single, run), Sam Moody (2 singles, 2 runs, stolen base), Kyle Smith (single, run), Gabe Lash (single), Aiden Herring (double, single, run, stolen base), Porter Gahagan (run, stolen base), Josh Blake (single, run, stolen base) and Griffin Holgerson (run).

Kai Young (single), Caleb Butler (run, stolen base), Roan Aldridge-Peacock (single) and Walker Hedrich (single) keyed P.G. Willey.

Smith pitched for Waldoboro and allowed three hits and no walks, with 11 strikeouts. Butler, Leonard and Young pitched for P.G. Willey and scattered 13 hits and four walks, with five strikeouts.

Waldoboro 10, Rockland Ford 4

At Waldoboro July 1, Waldoboro swung past Rockland Ford and clinched the top seed in the playoffs. Waldoboro scored one run in the first inning, one in the second, three in the third and five in the sixth, while Rockland Ford plated four in the sixth.

Jacob Watkinson, Gilbert Stewart and Dylan Winslow pitched for Rockland Ford and allowed a combined 10 hits, while Porter Gahagan and Gabe Lash allowed 11 hits on the mound for Waldoboro.

At Rockport June 29, Granite Coast Orthodontics prevailed via shutout. The hosts scored runs in the first, third and fourth innings.

GCO was led at the plate by Owen Hotchkin (double, 2 runs), Ezra Landry (single) and Wyatt Butcher (run, stolen base). For P.G. Willey, Brian Leonard singled for the lone hit.

Leonard pitched for P.G. Willey and allowed two hits, two walks and one hit batter, with six strikeouts. Franklin Coffey pitched for Granite Coast Orthodontics and allowed one hit and no walks, with six strikeouts.

P.G. Willey 11, Granite Coast Orthodontics 10

At Rockport June 29, P.G. Willey slugged to its first win of the campaign. P.G. Willey scored five runs in the second inning, one in the third and five in the fourth, while Granite Coast Orthodontics plated one in the first, three in the second, four in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Waldoboro 6, Damariscotta Lions 2

At Newcastle June 29, Waldoboro tripled the host Lions. Waldoboro scored one in the second and third innings and two each in the sixth and seventh, while the Lions scored in the first and sixth.

Waldoboro was led offensively by Kaden Genthner (run), Aaron Reed (single, 3 runs, stolen base), Porter Gahagan (single, run, stolen base), Sam Moody (run), Kyle Smith (single) and Gabe Lash (single, stolen base).

For the Lions, A.J. Giberson (run), Micah Tomasello (2 singles), Carson Hallowell (single, stolen base), McDaniel (double, stolen base) and Lincoln Ball (single, run) paced the offense.

Blake Grady and Tomasello pitched for the Lions and allowed four hits and three walks, with 12 strikeouts. Lash, Isaac Simmons and Gahagan pitched for Waldoboro and allowed five hits and five walks, with 11 strikeouts.
