ROCKLAND — Bixby Chocolates won the grand prize on Greenlight Maine, a statewide business reality TV show competition hosted on Maine Public Television.

The event was televised July 1.

“Bixby Chocolates is honored to be the winner of such a prestigious and competitive challenge with Maine’s finest companies,” said owner/founder Kate McAleer.

The competition took place over the past year, and the field of competitors narrowed at each stage.

This was the sixth annual race for cash prizes of $25,000, $10,000 and $5,000.

McAleer said the company will use the winnings to purchase chocolate manufacturing equipment to expand capacity and growth trajectory in the manufacturing facility. The facility is located on Sea Street in Rockland.

Bixby Chocolate is a craft chocolate company that makes non-gmo, vegan, organic and gluten free chocolates. They are the first bean-to-bar chocolate maker in Maine.

Bixby products can be found in grocery and specialty stores as well as on bixbyco.com.
