The American Legion baseball season continued for Midcoast teams Saturday and Sunday, June 19-20, a scenario that saw a mixed bag of results for Waldo County-based Tidewater Oil and Knox County-based Rock Coast Rip Tide.

In 17u play on Sunday, Tidewater Oil collected a pair of wins over Downeast Storm, while the Rock Coast Rip Tide split with Skowhegan.

In 19u play, Tidewater Oil swung to a victory over Sebasticook.

The Tidewater teams were starting their campaigns over the weekend, while Rock Coast Rip Tide had played an early contest.

Tidewater Oil 10, Downeast Storm 0 (6 inns.)

At Belfast June 20, the hosts prevailed by mercy rule over the Storm. Tidewater Oil scored two runs in the first inning, four in the third, two in the fourth and two in the sixth.

Tidewater Oil was led at the plate by Liam McConnell (2 runs), Cole Ellis (3 runs), Pat McConnell (2 runs), Curtis Littlefield (single), Eli Veilleux (run) and Eli Howard (triple, run).

R. Cage had the lone hit for Downeast Storm, whose first names were unavailable.

Gage Ellis tossed a one-hit shutout for Tidewater Oil and allowed no walks with eight strikeouts. C. Sewell pitched for Downeast Storm and allowed two hits and 11 walks, with nine strikeouts.

Tidewater Oil 3, Downeast Storm 2

At Belfast June 20, Nate Ashey scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to propel the hosts to victory. Tidewater Oil also scored runs in the second and fifth frames, while Downeast Storm scored in the second and sixth innings.

The hosts were led at the dish by Ashey (single, run), Pat McConnell (double, run), Eli Veilleux (double), Eli Howard (single) and Kyle Larrabee (run).

For the Downeast Storm, , whose first names were unavailable, C. Sewell (single), S. Dana (single, run, stolen base), R. Sabattus (single, run, stolen base) and S. McIver (single, stolen base) paced the offense.

Curtis Littlefield and Veilleux pitched for Tidewater Oil and allowed four hits and no walks, with five strikeouts. T. Bennett pitched for Downeast Storm and also allowed four hits and no walks, with five strikeouts.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Ashey singled, stole second base, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on an error to win the game for the hosts.

Rock Coast Rip Tide 3, Skowhegan 0

At Skowhegan June 20, the Rip Tide shut out the hosts and emerged with a three-run win. The Rip Tide scored two runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth.

Rock Coast Rip Tide was led at the plate by Eli Libby (double, RBI), Austin Chilles (single, run), Connor Calderwood (single, run, stolen base), Duncan Oakes-Nelsen (single, stolen base, RBI), Hunter Norton (single, RBI) and Lucas Moody (run).

For Skowhegan, with first names unavailable, McMahon (single), Hight (single) and Falardeau (single) paced the offense.

Oakes-Nelsen tossed a three-hit shutout for the Rip Tide as he walked three and struck out seven. Morgan pitched for Skowhegan and allowed five hits, walked one and hit four batters to go with six strikeouts.

Skowhegan 12, Rock Coast Rip Tide 11

At Skowhegan June 20, the Rip Tide were undone by errors in the late innings as Skowhegan rallied to earn the win. The Rip Tide scored four runs in the first inning, two in the second, four in the third and one in the sixth, while Skowhegan scored five in the fourth, two in the fifth, three in the sixth and two in the seventh.

For Skowhegan, with first names unavailable, Tibbetts (run), McMahon (run), McCray (double, 3 runs, stolen base), Morgan (single, 2 runs), Birdwell (run), Hight (double, single, 2 runs), Aubin (single, run), Sawyer (single, run) and Tibbetts (double, single) paced the offense.

Birdwell and McMahon pitched for Skowhegan and allowed 12 hits and six walks, with 10 strikeouts. Chilles, Calderwood, Bartlett and Berez pitched for the Rip Tide and allowed eight hits and nine walks, with five strikeouts.

Tiderwater Oil 9, Sebasticook 5

At Bucksport June 19, Tidewater Oil manufactured a four-run victory over the visitors. Tidewater Oil scored two runs in the first, two in the third, three in the fifth and two in the sixth, while Sebasticook scored three in the second and one in the fourth and fifth.

The hosts were led at the plate by Sam Moody (2 hits, run, RBI), Jason Bartlett (hit, run, RBI), Brandon Cournoyer (RBI), Mike Kremin (2 hits, run, RBI), Aiden Schecter (2 hits, 3 runs, RBI), Dylan Abbott (run), Isaac Bernosky (RBI), Obie Miller (run, RBI), Zepherin Leppanen (hit, RBI) and Tanner Veilleux (hit, RBI).

For Sebasticook, with first names unavailable,, H. Upton (hit, RBI), F. Cobb (hit, run), M. Scharf (hit, run, RBI), O. Upton (hit, run), B. Moore (run), L. Goosoe (2 hits, 2 RBIs, run) and A. Howell (hit, RBI) paced the offense.

Moody and Cournoyer pitched for Tidewater Oil, as the duo allowed seven hits and one walk, with eight strikeouts. H. Upton, Moore and Goosoe pitched for Sebasticook and allowed nine hits and three walks, with two strikeouts.
