Post #037 baked bean supper June 19

THOMASTON — Post 37, located at 10 Watts Lane, will continue its to-go baked bean suppers and other meals for 2021.

All present Post 37 procedures, as well as all COVID-19 state guidelines, will be followed. There will be limited inside seating, as well as to go meals. All will sign in and include their telephone number.

Meals may not be ready until 5 p.m. Meals can be ordered ahead of time, then picked up after 5 p.m. Menu to include baked beans, hot dogs, coleslaw, American Chop Suey, brown bread rolls, sweet and sour pickles, coffee and dessert. Each meal is $10.

Summer reading program now open for applications

The Waldoboro Public Library is now signing children up for this year’s summer reading program.

The program will meet Thursday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30 from June 24 to Aug. 5 and is for kids entering kindergarten through sixth grade.

This year, sessions will be outdoors on the library’s back lawn. Special events include programs with Mad Science, Earth Jams with Matt Loosigian, Dana and Friends (ventriloquist and magician) and Chewonki Foundation with Animal Adaptations.

Free virtual and in-person college planning June 22, 23

ROCKLAND — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host free sessions on the essentials of college planning, for adults 19 and over, looking for a new career or returning to higher education.

Virtual sessions are Tuesday, June 22 at 9, 10 and 11 a.m., and Wednesday, June 23, at 9, 10 and 11 a.m.

In person meetings at Rockland UMA Center, 91 Camden St., will be Monday, June 21, at 9, 10 and 11 a.m., noon, 1 and 2 p.m.

MEOC helps adults transition towards new careers and relevant educational credentials. The program provides assistance in career planning, stackable credentials, completion of FAFSA, rehabilitation of defaulted loans and finding appropriate funding for education.

Sessions lasts approximately an hour. Pre-registration is encouraged.
