A man being held at the Knox County Jail has had another charge added to his list.

Stephen J. Little Jr., 33, was charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct after a physical altercation with another inmate at the Knox County Jail April 29, Knox County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Patrick Polky said May 4.

The other inmate suffered facial injuries and was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

Little was issued a summons since he was already in jail.

Little was at the jail since his arrest on the night of April 10 in Rockland, accused of wielding a hammer during an argument. He was charged with felony criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and criminal mischief.

In that incident, Little is accused of breaking the door to a residence on Cedar Street. During the confrontation, according to police, Little put down the hammer and another person picked it up and hit Little to protect themselves.

At his initial court appearance on the hammer incident, Deputy District Attorney Christopher Fernald pointed out Little has failed to appear for court hearings on nine different occasions. In addition, Fernald said Little has a lengthy criminal, record going back at least 15 years with offenses that include assault and gross sexual assault.
