Home Kitchen Cafe is planning to construct a new building for a bakery and retail shop.

The Rockland business submitted an application Jan. 5, with the Rockland code enforcement office for the project proposed for 19 North Main St. The plan by Home Kitchen calls for demolishing the existing building at 19 North Main, which previously was used by Home Kitchen for an ice cream shop.

In its place would be a 3,000-square-foot building, according to the code office.

The $350,000 project will take five months to complete from when approval is received by the city.

Home Kitchen, owned by James Hatch and Susan Schiro, operated Cone Home beginning in 2014 before purchasing 19 North Main St. in January 2016.

The two started Home Kitchen Cafe at adjacent 650 Main St. in February 2009.

The Rockland Planning Board will review the application at its Jan. 19 meeting. Architect Jason Merriam submitted the application for the Home Kitchen owners.
