The Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) is voluntarily closing to the public for the month of January out of an abundance of caution for its staff, volunteers and visitors. The goal of the closure is to support the efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 within the community and to ensure the health and safety of all.
“We have had no detected cases of COVID-19 associated with CMCA, but with the uptick of cases in Knox County and the expected surge following the holidays, we have decided to close our galleries to the public as a cautionary measure,” said CMCA Executive Director Suzette McAvoy.
Throughout the month there are multiple ways to continue to engage with CMCA online, from taking a virtual tour of the Biennial exhibition with curatorial staff, to hands-on art making led by ArtLab educators, and live streamed Artist Toolbox talks and workshops.
