American Legion War Memorial Post No. 30 presented a certificate of appreciation to The Camden Herald’s Assistant Editor Susan Mustapich on Dec. 3.

The certificate states, “In recognition and sincere appreciation of outstanding Service, Support and Assistance to Post No. 30, through the substantial amount of your time dedicated to the writing of many articles in the VillageSoup Newspaper [The Camden Herald]. Your continued support directly contributed to the advancement of American Legion programs and activities dedicated to the communities we serve and to God and Country.”

The certificate was presented by Commander Gary Henry.

Mustapich has covered numerous events involving the post and local veterans. In November, she wrote a feature about Camden Vietnam veteran Jeff Sukeforth, who used his downtime at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to research the military service of veterans whose names are carved in stone on the war memorials, graves and monuments in the Camden-Rockport area. Sukeforth compiled the information he found in a thick 3-ring binder, covering men and women in the U.S. armed services from the Revolutionary War to the present.
