Two Maine Coast Heritage Trust farm preserves in Rockport offer self-guided, outdoor fun Dec. 5, during Camden’s Christmas By the Sea. Aldermere Farm at 20 Russell Ave. in Rockport, invites the public to don their most festive (or ugliest) holiday sweaters and take a selfie with a Beltie in front of the pen connected to Aldermere’s Visitor Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be Beltie ornament-making kits to take home and a collection slot for cash donations to fund supplying Aldermere beef to area food pantries.

After visiting Aldermere Farm, visitors may drive five minutes to Erickson Fields at 164 West St. in Rockport, to stroll through the forest and along the Teen Ag Crew garden that annually grows 20,000 pounds of produce to supply the community and hunger-relief agencies. Pages of “The Fall Fairy Gathering” by local author Liza Gardner Walsh are posted along the one-and-a-quarter-mile loop trail.

There will be limited designated parking along Russell Ave. at Aldermere Farm. Visitors are expected to follow the CDC’s guidelines for wearing masks and social distancing. Tips for preparing for outings to MCHT preserves are available online at mcht.org/covid-19-update.
