A driver was trapped for nearly an hour in the cab of a large dump truck that overturned on Old County Road.

The crash occurred at about 10:30 a.m. Nov. 16 at the Rockland/Thomaston town line.

The truck was loaded with sand and headed south when its tires got into the dirt shoulder and the driver over corrected and the vehicle rolled onto its side.

Rockland police and Rockland emergency medical services responded to the crash. Rescue crews had to cut away parts of the cab to free the driver.

John Nadeau, 62, of Lincolnville was taken by ambulance to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. He suffered minor injuries, Rockland police said.

Old County Road was blocked by Thomaston police at Dexter Street. Rockland public services cleaned up the roadway.

Neighbors said they heard a loud noise and saw the overturned truck when they went outside. They said they spoke with the driver, who said he got a tire off the road and lost control of the vehicle.

The truck was a total loss.
