United Farmer Veterans of Maine has announced the following upcoming classes and grant information for farmers:

Business Planning

The FarmSmart Farm Business Planning class, developed in conjunction with the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry, was designed for farmers with at least two years’ experience. The class is fully online and self-paced with 15 modules, and participants will gain access to a business plan template and spreadsheets for generating financial forecasts, along with instructional videos. Free QuickBooks for Farms class

SCORE Maine is offering a four-part series of classes to teach QuickBooks for Farms. These free classes, geared toward farm or agriculture business owner wanting to implement a sound accounting tool for their business, will be offered from 6 to 8:30 p.m. via Zoom on Mondays and Wednesdays from Oct. 26 through Nov. 4. FarmRaise is a new one-stop shop for farm funding. FACT’s 2020 Fund-a-Farmer grants

FACT awards competitive grants of up to $2,500 to working, independent family farmers located in the U.S. who raise beef cattle, bison, broiler chickens, dairy cows, goats, laying hens, pigs, sheep and/or turkeys.
