A meet the Candidates event will take place Sunday, Oct. 11, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the MacDougal Park on Broadway in Rockland.
The event is organized by Sarah Austin as a chance for Rockland voters to meet candidates for municipal and state offices.
All candidates are invited to participate.
"Given that COVID-19 has changed many of the traditional ways of campaigning, we candidates agree that finding creative opportunities to meet with voters is important. Anyone who has a question, concern, or ideas for candidates is welcome to join us at MacDougal Park to share them," the news release states.
Participating thus far are all five candidates for the Rockland City Council; Maine House candidates Democrat Valli Geiger and Republican Mike Mullins (tentative); state Senate candidates Republican Gordon Page and Democratic Sen. David Miramant (tentative).
Each candidate will have a distanced table, and we ask that all persons attending wear a face covering and observing social distancing. To comply with CDC guidelines, a maximum of 100 persons will be allowed in the event area at a time.
