An 81-year-old St. George man who was reported missing last evening was found deceased Thursday morning.

Robert "Bob" Conrad was found in a bog at about 10 a.m., Sept. 24, about a third of a mile behind his home on the Wallston Road, said Mark Latti, the communications director of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Conrad was last seen walking east behind his residence at approximately 4 p.m., Sept. 23. Police were called shortly after 8 p.m. and officers and a canine was sent to the scene.

Conrad suffered from dementia and was hard of hearing.

The St. George man was found by Warden Chad Robertson and his canine, Storm.

Conrad was transported to Hall’s Funeral Home, where he will be examined by a state medical examiner. It is suspected Conrad died of hypothermia in the bog.

During the search, the Maine Warden Service was assisted by the members from the Maine Association for Search and Rescue and Maine Search and Rescue Dogs.
