Thanks to support from the Onion Foundation, Coastal Mountains Land Trust will be hosting its eighth Annual Kites and Ice Cream event this September at Beech Hill Preserve in Rockport.

The event will look very different than in past years. There will not be a mass flying of kites — instead we welcome the public to come and get a free kite and a free ice cream voucher (for Camden Cone) and enjoy both at a time that works for each family.  There will be one kite per child who registers.

Each pick-up session will have a maximum of 50 children. To register and choose a time, go to the banner on Coastal Mountains Land Trust home page at coastalmountains.org. Each day will have its own individual link. The links will indicate which event days are full.

While families are welcome to go up the hill and fly a kite whenever they pick it up, the Land Trust encouraging people to get them and then come back or discover another preserve so that there are not too many people at one time. Event days are Thursday, Sept. 10 from 3 to 5 p.m.; Friday, Sept. 11 from 3 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Please park at the grass overflow lot – watch for signs. Then walk up the trail to receive a kite and voucher at the main gates. Don’t forget your mask! The Blueberry Barn Lot will be reserved for preserve visitors. Please leave pets at home.
