The Community Navigators AmeriCorps Program, of the Penquis Community Action Program, of Knox County, has received $50,000 from the Volunteer Maine Commissioners, part of the Corporation for National and Community Service.
The funds will support volunteering and service programs. The planning process will work on developing an AmeriCorps program whose members would be Community Resource Navigators, helping low-income residents create financial and personal plans to manage the challenges related to poverty. The AmeriCorps members would also recruit and train volunteers.
More information on current Maine AmeriCorps programs can be found on the Volunteer Maine website: www.maineservicecommission.gov/national-service/americorps-programs.
