Every year, Horch Roofing’s employees choose a charitable cause, and their Responsible Giving Committee works with local charities with that goal in mind. With the COVID-19 pandemic highlighting a need for food assistance in Maine, this year’s goal is to support organizations that work to end hunger.

Horch Roofing partnered with the Good Shepherd Food Bank and pledged to donate $200 from their Charitable Giving Fund every time a client signed a residential asphalt or metal roofing contract over $7,500 in the months of June and July.

The initial goal was to donate a minimum of $10,000 for food assistance through Good Shepherd, but with 81 roofing clients signed in June and July, Horch Roofing was able to donate a total of $16,200 to the organization.

“The goal was not just to donate, but to raise awareness about Good Shepherd and their role in providing food assistance throughout the state” said Horch Roofing President Peter Horch. “I was really moved by, and proud of our team going out there, educating our clients and in-turn pushing our donation total higher.

On Friday, Aug. 21, Peter Horch presented Erin Fogg, the Vice President of Development, with a check via Zoom.

According to Good Shepherd, this donation allows the organization to purchase over 50,000 meals for Mainers who would otherwise be hungry.

If looking for a way to support the community, consider donating to the Good Shepard Food Bank.
