The Landings Restaurant is trying something different to operate in the COVID-19 era.

Kate Miller said the restaurant will provide car-hop service at its waterfront location at 1 Commercial St.

24 trays that can be attached to the windows of doors of vehicles were ordered and received. Miller said car-hop service will begin Tuesday, June 2.

12 parking spaces will be designated for car-hop service. Customers can call ahead or from the parking lot and staff will bring out meals. Customers can eat in their vehicles or take their meals home.

Staff will collect the trays, or they can be left on a table that will be set up outside.

"You have to get innovative," Miller said in the face of COVID-19 and the restrictions in place for restaurants.

The Landings is serving outside on its deck but is not yet starting inside dinning.

The restaurant is open from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Since mid-March, restaurants have become creative with services such as curb-side delivery.
