A Stonington fisherman at the microphone was one of many who questioned federal regulations on Maine's lobster fishery that aim to protect right whales at a March 6 seminar.

The chance to question federal officials drew a standing-room-only crowd to the seminar at the 45th Maine Fishermen's Forum at the Samoset Resort. Maine fishermen want to protect the endangered whale, but are being asked to do more than their share, they say.

The event included an expo for businesses that serve the fishing community. Fishermen visiting the forum could see the latest gear, fishing vessels, engines and numerous other items.

Several seminars and talks were held bringing together fishermen, scientists and state and federal regulators.
