Two people were taken to the hospital following an all-terrain vehicle crash early Monday, Sept. 23.

The Knox County Regional Communication Center received a report at 12:30 a.m. of an ATV crash off Waldoboro Road.

First responders arrived and found a Polaris side-by-side rolled over with two injured people, one of whom had been thrown from the ATV during the crash.

Hanna Carter, 19, of Friendship, was operating the ATV off-road and lost control as the vehicle began to go down an embankment. Passenger Olivia Sevon, 19, also of Friendship, was ejected.

Both were taken to local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle was damaged.

The crash is under investigation, with Knox County Sheriff's Office Sgt. John Palmer as the lead investigator. Operator inexperience and alcohol are believed to be factors in this crash, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.

The incident was reported to the Maine Warden Service
