Camden's Memorial Day Parade and observances took place under a brilliant sunny sky May 27.

Many gathered along Elm and Main streets, and walked to Mountain View Cemetery to share in the somber remembrances for those who gave their lives serving in the United States military, and the smiles of young marchers and old friends.

In memory of those who have fallen in war, the parade stopped for short ceremonies offered by members of the American Legion at the town's many memorials along the parade route, the Color Guard performed rifle salutes, and the Camden Hills Regional High School marching band played the "Star Spangled Banner," patriotic songs and "Taps."

Community spirit was abundantly displayed by members of the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Five Town Softball League, and police and fire departments. Many of the groups participated in numerous area parades and ceremonies throughout the day.
