A company that owns several radio stations including in Rockland wants to replace its existing transmission tower with a much taller one.

Blueberry Broadcasting, based in Kennebunkport, filed an application with the city to replace its current 250-foot transmission tower with a 360-foot one on its property atop Benner Hill.

The $110,000 project is expected to be completed during the next 12 months.

The proposal will go before the Rockland Planning Board May 7.

The transmission tower will serve WMCM — FM, WRKD — AM, and WQSS — FM.

The tower is also used by other wireless carriers and internet companies.
