James Maddocks Glenn, 73, died at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Tuesday, March 19, 2019, surrounded by loving family.

Born in Attleboro, Mass.., he was the son of  James & Rachel Glenn (Maddocks). He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Glenn (Svoboda.) and his parents. Jim is survived by his son, Stephen Glenn, of Simsbury, Conn.; daughter and son-in-law Rachel and Tim Gorecki and their sons, Gavin and Kip, of West Simsbury, Conn.; sisters Martha Varsano of Thomaston, MaryBeth and her husband, George Marsh, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; and seven nieces and nephews.

He served in the Navy in Vietnam and went on to become an architect. He and his wife raised their family in Pittsburgh and Simsbury, Conn., eventually retiring to Thomaston. Jim loved spending time with his two grandsons, traveling with his family and friends and a good Manhattan.

A gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date in both Thomaston and Pittsburgh. A burial service will be held at the Hallowell Cemetery this summer. Arrangements are with Hall Funeral Home, Thomaston.
