Another tournament, another strong finish — this time a title — for the Medomak girls sixth-grade travel basketball team.

Medomak captured the Central Lincoln County YMCA "Cabin Fever Reliever" title on Sunday, March 17, as the team held off fellow Midcoast squad Five Towns 20-19 in the championship contest.

Medomak, coached by Andrea and Richard Williamson, includes Kytana Williamson, Roisin Hopkins, Sadie Knight, Audrey Jackson, Lilly Christ, Erica Waite, Paige Jarvis, Emily Richards and Skylar Hills.

In the weekend tourney on Saturday and Sunday, March 16-17, Medomak defeated Mount View of Thorndike 33-7, Lincoln Academy 28-10 and Five Town twice — 27-19 and 20-19.

The Panthers finished 4-0 in the tourney for fifth- and sixth-graders.

The following is a recap of each of Medomak's contests:

Medomak 33, Mount View 7

Medomak wasted little time getting started, as the team scored points fast and held the lead 17-4 at halftime. Medomak outscored Mount View 16-4 in the second half to record the victory, and move on in the championship bracket.

Jackson led Medomak with 12 points, while Kytana Williamson chipped in nine; and Hopkins, Christ and Waite, four.

The names of the Mount View scorers were unavailable.

Medomak 28, Lincoln Academy 10

Medomak picked up where it left off, as the squad scored eight straight points, to build a 15-3 halftime advantage. The Panthers kept their foot on the gas in the second half to capture the victory.

Jackson led the Panthers for the second straight game with 13 points, while Kytana Williamson added five; and Knight and Waite, two.

Medomak 27, Five Town 19

Medomak started the contest slow, as the Panthers struggled to get the ball through the hoop. Despite the sluggish start, Medomak held a 12-4 halftime lead. The opponents scored 15 points in the second half to give the Panthers the win, which advanced Medomak to the championship game.

Kytana Williamson led the Panthers with 10 points, while Jackson added eight; Waite, seven; Christ, three; and Knight, Jarvis and Hills, two.

Leah Jones and Maddie Cronkite led Five Town with eight points, while Thea Laukka had five.

This time, also, the game was closer, as the teams traded buckets. Medomak led 12-9 at halftime.

The second half was more of the same, as the Panthers held a slim advantage, but Medomak dribbled out the clock to capture the final victory and championship.
