The Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, the Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership and the Apprenticeshop have announced their 2019 program providing 10 fully-funded scholarships to Midcoast boys entering eighth and ninth grades.

The 14-day program includes elements from the three organizations – with sailing, STEM, craftsmanship, wilderness travel, team-building, and leadership as focus areas. The program runs from July 15 to 28. No experience is necessary.

Each scholarship covers the full tuition for a two-week expedition, valued at $2,500. Participating scholarship schools will select one student each, they are: St. George, CRMS, Oceanside Middle, Hope, Lincolnville, Vinalhaven and North Haven. In addition to the seven participating schools, there are three scholarships for community applicants.
