The DaPonte String Quartet’s second series of the season takes listeners Through the Looking Glass, as the DSQ kicks off its 28th year with a series that blankets southern and Midcoast Maine.

The Through the Looking Glass program offers Haydn’s String Quartet No. 1 in B flat Major Op. 1 No.1 “La Chasse”; Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8 in C Minor Op. 110; and Bartók’s String Quartet No. 4 Sx. 91. The local concert will be Saturday, March 16, at 2 p.m. at the Rockport Opera House, 16 Central St.

The Winter Series II concert tour begins Saturday, March 9, at the Robinhood Free Meetinghouse in Georgetown; and there is a 6 p.m. dinner option downstairs that must be reserved in advance.

At 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, there is a free preview performance at the Cumberland Library. After the Rockport Opera House concert, the tour will continue: Sunday, March 17, at 2 p.m. at the Lincoln Theater, Damariscotta; Thursday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Jewish Museum in Portland; Saturday, March 23, at 2 p.m. at Boothbay Harbor’s St. Columba’s Church; and Sunday, March 24, at 2 p.m. at Brunswick’s Unitarian Universalist Church.
