A public meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. at the Waldoboro Town Office, 1600 Atlantic Highway, to discuss the proposed TIF workplan. This meeting is a public forum where residents are welcome to attend and ask questions.

The town of Waldoboro is proposing to create a TIF district to improve economic development. The TIF will create a fund that will be used for economic projects, and it will leverage additional grants and private investments.

Some of the proposed economic projects in the current workplan draft include:

Village and downtown improvements (sidewalks, parking, and walking trails); waterfront improvements to promote aquaculture industries; tourism-related projects (trails and parks); public utility extensions (sewer, water, and high-speed fiber); workforce and job training; and matches for economic grants.

The current workplan draft and a two-page summary can be found on the front page of the town of Waldoboro website. Residents can also contact the Planning & Development Department at 832-5369 for a copy or to ask questions.
