The Midcoast Elite Amateur Athletic Union boys basketball team swept three games at the "Shake the Rust" tournament on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Ash Point Community School gymnasium.

Midcoast Elite was the only seventh-grade team in attendance, and faced opponents who comprised of eighth-grade athletes, and went undefeated when the final horn sounded on the event.

Midcoast Elite team members include Quincy Messer, Cohen Galley, Carter Galley, Wyatt Evenson, Landyn Benner, Dylan Benner, Ben Tripp, Larry Robbins and Aaron Reed. The team is coached by Travis Doughty.

The following is a recap of that day's Elite contests:

Elite 48, Boothbay 38

Elite was led by Evenson (16 points, 3 assists), Cohen Galley (8 points, 6 assists), Carter Galley and Messer (7 points), Reed (5 points, 8 rebounds), Robbins (4 points, 6 rebounds) and Thompson and Landyn Benner (3 points).

Elite 58, Medomak 56

Elite had its toughest test in the tourney, as the game went back and fourth with this year's Busline League middle school eighth-grade champions.

Medomak had the ball with seven seconds remaining, but Carter Galley stole the inbounds pass and converted a layup as the game ended.

Evenson and Carter Galley led Elite with 15 points, while Cohen Galley added 14; Messer, eight; Landyn Benner, four; and Thompson, two.

Elite 57, Oceanside 7/8 39

Cohen Galley paced Elite with 14 points, while Evenson chipped in 12; Carter Galley and Messer, 10; Reed, four; Tripp, three; and Dylan Benner and Landyn Benner, two.
