Leocadia Zukowski "Laura" Bryson, passed at home Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019. She was born in Grodno, Poland, May 1, 1923, to Walerian and Emilia (Chilmonczyk) Zukowski. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, in 1999. She grew up in Salem, Mass., and graduated from St. John the Baptist Parochial School, Salem High School, and Salem Commercial Business School.

Laura worked as an executive secretary at the G.E. Turbine Division in Lynn, Mass. She also was a credit investigator at Almy’s Department Store in Salem.

Laura is survived by two daughters, Ann-Marie (David) Benedict of Eldersburg, Md., Patricia (Tom) Mellor of Thomaston; grandchildren Craig (Alexandra) Benedict, Scott Benedict, Megan Holden, Molly Mellor; great-granddaughters Eleanor Szostalo, Penelope Fournier, Aaliyah MacDonald; her cousins, Dianne Chilmonczyk, Dr. Barbara Chilmonczyk, and was predeceased by Dr. Waclaw Chilmonczyk (Mary), and Janina and John Chilmonczyk.

She was the sister of the late Henry Zukowski (Joan) of Lee, Mass. She leaves many nieces and nephews.

At her request, there are no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John Paul II, Shrine of Divine Mercy, St. Peter Street, Salem, Mass., at a later date. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Laura’s memory to St. John Paul II, Shrine of Divine Mercy, 32 St. Peter St., Salem, MA 01970 or to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org.
