Kirsten Lie-Nielsen, author of “So You Want to be a Modern Homesteader?”, will talk about her experiences and share what she has learned Thursday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m. at Hope Library, 441 Camden Road/Route 105.

Lie-Nielsen’s book focuses on the joys and pitfalls of homesteading life. She will offer tips for surviving Maine winters with wood heat and caring for farm animals.

Lie-Nielsen and her partner purchased an 1860s farmhouse in Liberty to pursue their homesteading dreams. They were prepared to rough it and go without modern conveniences, but the journey has not been without hardship. Writing the book was a fun project for her and definitely a labor of love.

After the talk, books will be available for purchase and signing. For more information, call 763-3553 or visit hope/lib.us.
