A handful of independent student-athletes from Medomak Valley of Waldoboro and Oceanside of Rockland participated in high school swimming during the 2018-19 season, as the group practiced and competed with Camden Hills at the Penobscot Bay YMCA and other pools around the state.

The trio included Medomak Valley senior Emily Grinnell and Oceanside freshmen Simon Fox and Ryan Lynch.

The following are a handful of results for the three independent swimmers.

Camden Hills of Rockport, Medomak Valley of Waldoboro and Oceanside of Rockland high school swimmers continued to hone their skills — and record top places and fast times — on Friday, Jan. 25 as regular-season meets dwindled and league and state competitions await.

Camden Hills hosted Gardiner/Hall-Dale, as well as the usual Mariner and Panther independent student-athletes, in a late-season meet.

More often than not, Morse of Bath is the best high school pool program in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B ranks, with Camden Hills and Belfast, among others, nipping at the Shipbuilders' heels for that coveted top spot.

Morse again demonstrated their annual talent in a competitive regular-season meet with host Camden Hills on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the Penobscot Bay YMCA.

The girls meet was close, but boys not as much. Morse won the girls event 88-81 and the boys meet 91-61.

As usual, Medomak Valley of Waldoboro and Oceanside of Rockland student-athletes competed in the meet as independents.
