Midcoast Community Chorus welcomes singers of all ages, experience and abilities to register for the spring semester of weekly rehearsals. The group’s June concert traditionally benefits a selected local nonprofit organization.

In-person registration will occur Mondays, Feb. 25 to March 11, from 5 to 6:15 p.m., followed by rehearsal from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at First Congregational Church of Camden, 55 Elm St./Route 1. All sheet music is provided; it is optional to purchase the semester sheet music and a practice CD.

Singers also may register online at mccsings.org: click sequentially the tabs labeled Sing!, Community Chorus and Registration. Registration for the semester is $80. Scholarships are available.

Each semester, more than 100 singers age 13 to 95 join the chorus to sing under the direction of Steven Weston, artistic director, accompanied by Sean Fleming, assistant director. Tenets of the chorus include: the voice is the sound of the soul; all voices deserve to be heard; and singing together builds community.

The music selection reflects different traditions, cultures, languages and musical genres, with the intent to provide hope, inspiration, healing and joy to a concert audience. At every concert, the audience is invited to sing a few songs together in community.

Those who wish to print out and mail the online registration form may send it to MCC, P.O. Box 192, Rockport, ME 04856 before Monday, Feb. 18; or complete the form and submit it at registration before rehearsal Feb. 25. Inquiries may be made at mcclleach@gmail.org or 975-0582.
