The Mid-Coast Performing Arts Initiative is calling for submissions of films for the inaugural Mid-Coast Cinema Fest, set for Thursday, March 14, at the Crosby Center, 96 Church St.

Submissions can be anything and everything including narrative films, documentaries, music videos, web shows, animation and experimental works. A fee of $7 is requested for submissions, to help defray cost of the fest.

The Mid-Coast Performing Arts Initiative will program a lineup of four to five locally made video projects (20 minutes or less) per screening. After each film is screened, host Michael C. Urchin will conduct a short Q&A session with the filmmakers; and following the show, filmmakers and audience members hang around to socialize.

At each event, a panel of film aficionados will vote on the best film; and at the end of the year, Mid-Coast Performing Arts will present a night of the chosen films.

All levels of filmmakers are welcome for what is hoped to be a fun, entertaining experience that cultivates collaboration. Submissions should be sent to Filmmakers will be notified if their films are chosen — and if they are not chosen this time, it may be for future events.
