Watts Hall Community Players invites everyone to get off the couch, bundle up and come out for a good time with friends and neighbors Friday evening, Feb. 9. The Players are throwing a 1950s-era sock hop from 6:30 to 9 p.m., offering free fun for all ages.

Sock hoppers will think they have gone back in time: the dance hall will be draped with crepe paper streamers and tissue paper puff balls; and DJ Dan Miller will be spinning the tunes of Elvis, Bill Haley and the Comets, Buddy Holly, Brenda Lee and all the other favorites of the era. There will be snacks and beverages to fuel the dancing; and prizes for best ‘50s attire, best Jitterbugs and maybe even for The Stroll.

The Watts Hall sock hop promises fun for the whole family, a real community event and it’s free and open to all ages; donations are welcomed. Those who would like to borrow 50s attire for adults or kids from Watts Hall Community Players’ costume loft or would like more information are encouraged to send email to darylhah@gmail.com.
