The annual Young Composers Competition is looking for submissions from Maine students, high school age and younger, who love to write original music. Students can win prize money for their creative efforts: $200 for first place; $125 for second place; and $75 for third place.

Three winners will be chosen in age group 13 and younger; and three in age group 14 and older. The deadline for sending an original music composition to the Bagaduce Music Lending Library is Friday, Feb. 8.

New this year, Mark Tipton, a judge and composer, will offer a composition workshop for older students at the festival Saturday, April 20, at 1 p.m. Details about the competition, guidelines and entry forms are available on the Bagaduce Music website, bagaducemusic.org.
