On Thursday, February 7, 6-8 p.m., The Rockland Shambhala presents a dharma talk on the Four Noble Truths with Kit St. John at The Dancing Elephant, 16 School St., Feb. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is free, with donations accepted.

This evening talk includes meditation, a talk, discussion and time for visiting. Tea and snacks will be served. The Buddha taught the Four Noble Truths: suffering as the nature of existence, how suffering arises, how suffering can be extinguished, and the “middle way” path, which can be practiced to wake up.

Shastri Christopher "Kit" St. John has been practicing and contemplating the Buddhist teachings for more than 35 years. He has been resident director of Shambhala training at the Brunswick-Portland Shambhala Center since 1995.
