The Salvation Army of Rockland, 27 Payne Ave., has added two open-face refrigerators to its “Fresh Rescue” room, which will allow it to display and distribute more food to the community.

The “Fresh Rescue” Room is upstairs in the Worship & Service Center. The room is open five days a week: Wednesday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to noon, and Sunday 2 to 7 p.m.

The available items and quantities vary each day, but often include fruits, vegetables, bread, milk, pastries, eggs, and deli items such as lunch meat, cheese, rotisserie chickens, sandwiches, prepared meals, and even sushi.

There are no prerequisites or paperwork required for this program. The only question asked when people come is how are many in their household, so the agency can report to its partners how many people the food is serving.
