Knox County residents have access to the Knox County Rx Drug Discount program. Card holders show their card at the pharmacy when they pick up a prescription. There’s no cost to use it, nothing to sign up for, nothing to fill out, and no personal information is required. The card can save holders an average of 27.7 percent. Not only can it help with the cost of county residents' own prescriptions, and some diabetic medical supplies, but it can sometimes help with the cost of pet medications as well.

There’s nothing to disqualify you from being able to use the card; anyone can use them, as long as they are residents of Knox County.

Even those who already have insurance can use the cards to save on prescriptions their insurance may not cover, simply by presenting the card at their pharmacy.

Cards are available at town offices, libraries, and other civic and some nonprofit agencies. Cards can also be downloaded for immediate use through the Knox County website at knoxcountymaine.gov/ema. To have one or more cards mailed, call the Knox County Emergency Management office at 594-5155 or send an email to crichards@knoxcountymaine.gov with your address information. Or pick one up in person at the Knox County EMA office, 301 Park St.
