Knox-Lincoln Beekeepers will offer a seven-week course, presented by experienced beekeepers from KLCB, the Maine State Beekeepers Association and the Maine’s state bee inspector, who will provide the basic information to get started as a beekeeper. This course is designed for first- and second year beekeepers.

Beekeeping basics, equipment needs, seasonal management, honey bee diseases and pest management are just a few of a wide variety of topics to be covered during this course in lecture format, Powerpoint presentations and hands-on experiences. Not only will students learn what is needed to care for honey bees, they will meet other community members who are interested beekeeping.

Classes will be held on consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Thomaston beginning Feb. 26 and ending April 9. The course fee is $60, which includes a textbook, handouts and a pro-rated yearly membership in KLCB.
