Value added

I attended a meeting last week of Tri-County Solid Waste Management Organization, which was held in Appleton. There were no lights on at the Town Office where we were supposed to meet, but Appleton Library across the street was all lit up and had a full parking lot. So, I went there and opened to door to hear Christmas carols being sung. It was that special sound of carols sung by not-necessarily-professional singers. What fun! I just walked on in and started singing along. Turns out Appleton Library was just winding down their “Cookies and Caroling” event and I was lucky to get in on part of it. Pretty soon there were lights in the Town Office and I headed back across the road warbling “four calling birds, three French hens, two turtle doves, and a pa-a -r-.tridge in a pear tree.” Sweet. So I sang it for New Year’s, too.
