A four-week series of the adult movement class. Shake Your Soul and Let Your Yoga Dance for EveryBody, will begin Friday, Jan. 4, at 10 a.m. at Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St. Sign-up is required as space is limited; stop by the library’s reference desk to register or call 594-0310.

The class, led by independent dance instructor Katie Tranzillo, is offered as part of the Check Out Movement and Healthy Living at Your Library series funded by the Maine Public Library Fund, Rose and Samuel Rudman Family Trust, City of Rockland and Friends of Rockland Public Library. All levels of experience are welcome.

Adaptations will be offered so that adults of all ages and abilities benefit and have fun moving to great music and feeling good in their bodies. This body-spirit-fitness program combines elements of Shake Your Soul and Let Your Yoga Dance to reconnect participants with their bodies and the joy of movement, resulting in a basic fitness program of gentle cardio for strength, flexibility and balance.

With exciting world music and clear guidance, participants will explore movements, music and dances from around the world. Movements will be rhythmic, fluid, centering, grounding and purposeful. Within the structure of the class, participants will find the freedom to explore and to express — and increase their joy, power and grace — all while experiencing a reconnection with the joy of dance.

Tranzillo has led partnered, individual and group programs for 18 years, with children, teens, adults and people with disabilities. She has trained with master teachers and dancers across the country in a variety of dance styles. For more information, visit joyfuldancing.com.
