The Maine Community Foundation’s Rose and Samuel Rudman Library Trust is accepting applications for grants to support programs at libraries in Knox and Waldo counties, as well as Aroostook, Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis and Washington counties.

The Rose and Samuel Rudman Library Trust was established in 1986 to help libraries better serve communities in Maine with a population of less than 10,000. On business travels in Maine, Samuel Rudman was struck by the commitment to learning and reading at libraries in the majority of towns he passed through, regardless of size.

Rudman grants are all about the book. They allow small libraries to create programs tied to their collection, share resources, collaborate with community groups and find other innovative ways to serve the community.

Grant proposals must be submitted by Jan. 15. For complete guidelines, online application form and a list of recent grants, visit
