Midcoast Recreation Center, 535 West St., Rockport, has introduced two new classes for children. Learn to Skate Hockey for Tots and Snowplow SAM for Tots are centered on teaching children three and four years of age how to move on the ice. Learn to Skate Hockey for Tots is a program for any child with lots of energy to burn, where the children put on full hockey gear and get to play on the ice. Snowplow SAM for Tots does not require the hockey gear, and children get to focus more on learning the fundamentals of skating. Both programs run for 25 minutes and have a reduced class size, with space for only eight children in each class.

Both Learn to Skate Hockey for Tots and Snowplow SAM for Tots take place on Monday mornings, with Learn to Skate Hockey for Tots running from 11 to 11:25 a.m. and Snowplow SAM for Tots going from 11:25 to 11:50 a.m. For the first Learn to Skate Hockey class, parents are asked to arrive 30 minutes early so that the children can get fitted with hockey gear.  For more information, or to sign your child up for either class, visit MRC’s website at midcoastrec.org, or call 236-9400.
